The Importance of H-1B Visas to Regional Economies

Encompassing both immigration and unemployment, the debate over the H-1B temporary high-skilled work visa program remains contentious. H-1B visa holders have the potential to provide specialized skills that keep our American companies globally competitive, although some contend their presence hurts native workers. Senior Policy Analyst and Associate Fellow Neil G. Ruiz says the issue is especially important at the local level where regional economies have unique skills needs.
