This powerpoint by Robert Puentes was presented as the keynote address at a Hofstra University conference in Hempstead, NY. The conference examined various aspects of suburbia under the theme, “New Visions of Suburban Life.” Puentes’ presentation discusses what has happened to older suburban America since the 1950s, the challenges and opportunities older suburbs face today, and what the role has been of current federal and state policies.
