Expert Michael O’Hanlon fears that the increasing national debt, the unpopularity of wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and increased pressure to keep domestic spending on programs like Social Security and Medicare intact could lead to unwise cuts in defense spending, with serious consequences for national security.
